This beautiful book would move the hardest heart.
A bird the Sandpiper sets off on it's journey of migration. The bird travels across huge distances. Across mountains and sea. Through storms and war zones.
The bird encounters people experiencing earthquake, war, flood and forced migration.
Through this dispair the bird drops feathers along the way.
Each of the people who receive a feather make it into something new or use it to bring joy to the people around them.
At the conclusion of the bird's journey there is a realisation that we all need a safe secure place to call home.
The illustrations are so incredible that you can feel the cold of the storm, the sound of the gunfire.
The cover features embossed feathers that float over both front and back of the book.
My recommendation would be for upper primary level.
