A collection of 12 short-stories for children, including a mix of Tessa's previously published classics (9) and new stories (3). The title comes from a novella written during Tessa's stay at Menton as the Kathryn Mansfield Scholar, and is an exciting yet poignant sea adventure in which a girl learns she isn't as clever as she thinks she is and a shy boy gains confidence through adversity, Too Close to the Wind (the novella) is well placed to become another much-loved Tessa Duder story, and the collection itself will have considerable appeal to teachers and librarians, and will be supplemented with extensive teacher's notes, as the short story format is well suited to classroom language units. The collection marks Tessa's move from her previous fiction publisher (Penguin) to HarperCollins, who have been her non-fiction publisher since 1999, and brings back into print some of her much-loved earlier stories as well as some amazing new ones, marking her return to children's fiction following the completion of her Tiggy Thompson series two years ago.
