Each unit is based on a passage placing the spelling rule or strategy in context and contains differentiated activities for each objective. The texts develop spelling skills within a textual context targeting Word Level objectives of the Framework for Teaching English, with a cross-curricular emphasis. "Spelling First" is a new, differentiated programme designed to complement "Write First" and "Grammar First".
