Anno's Mysterious Multiplying Jar

Inside Mr. Anno's jar is not a genie but a deceptively simple bit of water, which leads magically to the deeper waters of the sea, and thence to a series of amazing numerical happenings. Beautiful pictures reveal that there is an island on that sea, and on that one island, two countries, and in each country, three mountains, and so on up to ten. Thus factorials are introduced in a manner so simple, yet are a concept of great mathematical complexity. Artist Mitsumasa Anno and his son, Masaichiro, expand our imagination and show us the simplicity and order that make our world so beautiful and so mysterious.
