Jutta Goetze was born in a mission hospital in Mwanza, East Africa, where she spoke German, Swahill and Indian. She studied acting at Flinders University before realising she was a writer, not an actor. Since 1980 she has worked as a writer and script editor on a number of successful television shows, and has also written several books for children, including a series of picture books for the RSPCA. Her first novel for young adults, Luna-C, was published by Allen & Unwin in 2001. She has nearly always lived in the country and many of her books have environmental themes.
